Ed Spanjaard is one of the major Orchestra Conductors in Holland. He has had a long and distinguished connection with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, not only as a regular guest conductor but also as Chief Conductor. Mr Spanjaard needed a series of action photos during a concert of the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. This presents special challenges to the photographer. Not only must he use existing light, but also be very conscious of the noise emitted by the camera: musicians not only love the sound of the music they make, they are also very sensitive to the silences.
